    seven card stud rules

Stud is a very easy game to learn. You get two hole cards, four up cards and one final hole card. 7 card stud uses antes instead of blinds. Most will be familiar with this concept. Antes are used at a vast majority of home poker games. Each player will put in a certain amount, ranging from $.02 to $500 depending on the stakes and the dealer will give each player 2 hole cards and one up card. Whoever has the lowest up card will be forced to complete the ante, which is called the "Bring In". For example, if you are playing at a $1/2 table the ante will be $.10 and the bring in will be $.50. You will get 3 more up cards and one more hole card, with a betting round in between each. The player with the best five card hand wins the pot. Read our seven card stud strategy article to learn the finer points on how to become a winning 7 card stud poker player.
